Wilson County Deputy Zachary Bandy was awarded the Medal of Valor Monday night at the Wilson County Commission meeting.
Commissioner Mike Kurtz presented the medal to Deputy Bandy in recognition of actions during a pursuit on Nov. 22, 2022.
On that day, the Wilson County Sheriff鈥檚 Office was notified of a pursuit entering Wilson County from Smith County. Deputy Bandy assisted in the multi-jurisdictional and multi-agency pursuit during which the suspect fired at law enforcement vehicles resulting in Deputy Bandy being shot in the leg.
鈥淣ot every law enforcement officer in the country can honestly say that they feel appreciated by their community, but I do,鈥 Bandy said.
