The Lebanon Wilson County Chamber of Commerce awarded 32 grants totaling almost $14,500 to teachers at the annual Teacher Grant Breakfast last Friday.
The Teacher Grant Extra Mile Educator Program started in 1996 and since then 736 grants have been awarded exceeding $308,000 in funding. Grants range from less than $200 to a $599 maximum.
Proceeds from the annual Taste of Wilson County directly benefit the Business & Education Coalition.
Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Melanie Minter, VP Membership & Finance Andrea Wilke and Education Division Vice-Chair DeJeay Woods presented the grants, which were announced by the Chamber鈥檚 Chair-Elect Ian Isbell.
鈥淚t is always great to see smiles on the teachers faces when they receive their check. After all, they make a difference in a child鈥檚 or young adults lives every day. Teachers are preparing our future leaders,鈥 Minter said. 鈥淥ur Business & Education Coalition takes pride in giving back to our community.鈥
