Lebanon celebrates two football signings
Two Lebanon High football players signed to play collegiately last month, but celebrated at the school this week when their families could attend. Coach Chuck Gentry stands behind defensive back Dameon Calloway and his mother, Kody Mosby. Calloway signed with Division II Tusculum University in East Tennessee.
MT. JULIET — Green Hill baseball dominated on the opening night of the TSSAA spring sports season Monday, shutting out Northwest 18-0 on the Hill.
Liam Bowles allowed one hit in four innings with two walks and nine strikeouts.
Aiden Montle fanned two in the fifth, and final, frame.
Green Hill jumped to a 14-0 lead in the first inning.
The Hawks added three more in the second and one in the third, finishing with 12 hits in their four offensive innings.
Nick Owens Jr. drove in four runs on a triple and single.
Grayson Beasley singled twice and Jackson Crawford doubled as each knocked in three scores.
Freshman Will Sloane doubled while Logan Barney banged out two singles.
The Hawks, who were scheduled to play at Rossview last night, are set to go to Blackman tonight and Oakland tomorrow night.
GLADEVILLE — Wilson Central opened the tennis season Monday by sweeping visiting Mt. Juliet 7-0 (boys) and 5-2 (girls) in District 9-2A action.
Singles winners for the Wildcats were Alejandro Conde over Tanish Bangera 6-0, 6-0; Aadhish Udayakumar over Nick Franklin 6-3, 6-1; Cameron Sather over Ray Saharan 6-4, 6-2; Mateo Dorcey over Leo Rodriguez 6-1, 6-2 and Garron Colebank over Canyon King 6-2, 6-4. Doubles winners were Conde and Dorcey over Bangera and Franklin 8-0 and Colebank and Everett Sather over King and J.D. Evans 8-4.
Lady Wildcat singles winners were Lillia Colebank over Hannah Rea 6-1, 6-2; Addie Cranor over Gaby Helm 2-6, 6-2, 10-2 and Sophia Davis over Jordyn Jones 6-1, 6-1. Doubles winners were Colebank and Davis over Helm and Jones 8-4 and Cranor and Bella Delgado over Rori Muchechetere and Mamie Gronda 8-6.
Lady Bear winners were Chloe Pedjeu over Delgado 6-3, 6-1 and Ana Saxe over Keegan Nixon 6-1, 7-6.
The girls split the junior-varsity matches.
Central’s Nadie Colon Padilla edged Sam Platte 9-76 while Mt. Juliet’s Lindie Farough and Verina Salamy got past Nixon and Sloane Taylor 9-8 (7-3 in the tiebreaker). The Wildcats won both JV matches.
Alex Fedie beat Patrick Campbell 6-4 while Sather and Garron Colebank doubled up King and Evans 8-4.
Wilson Central will play at Lebanon’s Boyd-Rushing Courts on Thursday.
SOUTH CARTHAGE — Two-time Class A state softball champion Gordonsville opened the 2025 season Monday with a 5-0 win over Watertown at Crump Paris Park.
Kailey Plumlee held Watertown to a single by Avery Taylor and six walks while striking out 16 in 5 2/3 innings.
Callie Dillard retired the final four Lady Purple Tigers, two on strikes. Plumlee homered and drove in three runs.
Kayla McGuire gave up two earned runs on six hits and three walks while striking out eight for Watertown.
The Lady Purple Tigers were to go to Green Hill yesterday and will go to Livingston Academy tomorrow.
