Three golfers from Macon County High School have officially committed to continuing their athletic careers at the collegiate level.
Maddox Crowder has signed with the men’s golf team at Middle Tennessee State University while Mattie Goad and Kamryn Vester have both secured spots on the women’s golf team at Trevecca Nazarene University.
“When I first started playing golf at 9 years old, I had no idea where it would lead me or what the sport would do for me,†Vester said.
“The more I played, the more I fell in love with the game. It became clear that I wanted to play in college. “It hasn’t always been easy, but with all the support from my family, coaches and teammates I have learned that hard work truly pays off. I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity to play at Trevecca.â€
“It’s definitely an amazing opportunity and I am very glad to be able to have it,†said Goad.
In addition to their college commitments, Crowder, Goad and Vester have each been honored as recipients of the 2024 Larry Dale Driver Memorial Golf Scholarship.
This scholarship, named in memory of the late Larry Dale Driver, recognizes outstanding Macon County high school golfers for their dedication to the sport and their academic achievements.
“I am very excited to announce the signing of both Mattie Kay Goad and Kamryn Vester to our women’s golf program starting next fall,†Trevecca coach David Head said. “They are both very talented young golfers, and I know they will represent Trevecca with character and integrity both on and off the golf course.
“Beverly Shoulders at MCHS has done a great job helping these young ladies develop and we look forward to helping them achieve wonderful things once they arrive on campus here at Trevecca.â€
