The magic of Christmas comes to downtown Hartsville on Saturday, Dec. 14.
The Hartsville First United Methodist Church men will host an all-you-can-eat country ham breakfast along with a church bazaar hosted by the ladies of the church on Dec. 14, from 7-10 a.m. in the Hartsville First United Methodist Church basement, located at 224 River St. The cost of the breakfast is $10 per person and will include country ham, pork sausage, biscuits, scrambled eggs, hash brown potatoes, grits, fruit, both sawmill and red eye gravy, plus coffee or juice. The bazaar will feature a Christmas decorations 鈥榳hite elephant鈥 sale, new hand-crafted decorations and a bake sale.
The 2024 Downtown Hartsville Christmas celebration runs 9 a.m.-noon with local food trucks, vendors and businesses. Vendors will be set up around the Hartsville/Trousdale Courthouse and inside the Trousdale County Community Center. Parade participants line up at 9 a.m. for the annual Hartsville Christmas Parade. Judging of the parade entries will begin at 9:30 a.m. The parade starts at 10 a.m. For more information on the parade, contact Racheal Petty at 615-804-8945. The parade is sponsored by the Hartsville Trousdale Chamber of Commerce and Tourism.
The Hartsville Backpack Program will host a food giveaway on Saturday, Dec. 14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 250 McMurry Blvd. Distribution is for all Trousdale County families with children. The next distribution will be Dec. 28.
There will be a Build a Bouquet Bar at The Rankin, 100 E. Main St., on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 10:30 a.m. Poinsettias, Christmas Greens and more will be available to build bouquets. There will also be a hot chocolate bar available.
First responders will collect donations for the Beverly Sullins Memorial Toy Drive after the parade in the Hartsville Foodland parking lot at 106 McMurry Blvd. All donations benefit Trousdale County Christmas for Kids program.
As you clean out closets and cabinets, the Community Help Center of Trousdale County reminds everyone they will accept your donations. The center will be open Saturday, Dec. 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28 and Saturday, Jan. 4 are designated as donation days only. Items can be donated from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. these days. Regular hours of operation for the center are Monday to Thursday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Trousdale County Softball presents 鈥淐offee House,鈥 a night of music and desserts on Saturday, Dec. 14 at the Trousdale County High School Auditorium. The event features local school talent performing iconic songs from the past. Show times are 6 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the door.
The Hartsville Rotary Club will meet Thursday, Dec. 19 for their club Christmas party. The organization will not meet Thursday, Dec. 26 or Thursday, Jan. 2. Normal meetings will resume on Thursday, Jan. 9 at noon at the Farmer鈥檚 Harvest located at 104 Vance Ave. in Hartsville.
The Trousdale County Board of Education will meet Thursday, Dec. 19 at 6 p.m. at the Trousdale County Board of Education building located at 103 Lock Six Road. The Hartsville Rotary Club will present a trophy to the school principal whose school raised the most food for this year鈥檚 food drive.
The Hartsville/Trousdale County Public Works Department announces trash collection for the 2024 holidays. The Tuesday, Dec. 24 trash collection date will be picked up Monday, Dec. 23. The Wednesday, Dec. 25 trash collection date will be picked up Thursday, Dec. 26. Trash scheduled to be picked up on Tuesday, Dec. 31 will be picked up on Monday, Dec. 30.
Hartsville/Trousdale County government offices will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 24-25 for the Christmas holiday. The offices will also be closed Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 31 for New Year鈥檚 Eve and Jan. 1 for New Year鈥檚 Day.
