Emergency service personnel from Trousdale and Wilson counties responded to a call on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024, at approximately 9 a.m. regarding a potentially suicidal individual armed with a handgun on the Hunter鈥檚 Point Bridge on Highway 231, according to a post on the Trousdale County Sheriff鈥檚 Office Facebook page.
A peaceful resolution was successfully negotiated by deputies from both counties, according to the post. The individual was transported by EMS for mental health treatment. No weapon was found on the scene.
This incident underscores the critical need for the radio communications tower that is pending construction on Gravel Hill, according to the TCSO Facebook post. The tower will enhance emergency response capabilities on the west side of Trousdale County.
At approximately 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 2, Wilson County deputies were in pursuit of a silver Nissan Murano traveling at high speed on Highway 231 near the Trousdale County line, according to another post on the TCSO Facebook page. A Trousdale County deputy observed the vehicle turning east on Highway 25 toward Hartsville. Spikes were deployed to intercept the vehicle and slow its speed. After a foot pursuit, deputies successfully apprehended the driver.
The driver is from Memphis and was in possession of a vehicle reportedly stolen in Nashville. Facing multiple charges, the driver was arrested and is pending a hearing in General Sessions Court.
