Mrs. Mildred Louise Owen Scott, 91, of the Beckwith Community died very suddenly at her home Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024.
She was born in Nashville, Tennessee, Feb. 24, 1933, daughter of the late Claiborne Owen and Mandy Denney Owen.
She grew up in the Beckwith community of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. She attended the one room schoolhouse in Beckwith. She married Lewis Griggs Scott, who passed away Nov. 26, 2024, and he attended Riverview School, graduated from Mt. Juliet High School, and served in the Marine Corps.
They were married and lived seventy two years in the Beckwith Community. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, J. W. Owen; and her sister, Mary Elizabeth Ulrich.
She is survived by three sons, Al (Lee) Scott, Morgan (Mary) Scott and Dr. Jim Scott (Dr. Vickie Montgomery); seven grandchildren, Tina Scott, Amy (Josh) Tate, Aaron (Trisha) Scott, Bryan (Falon) Scott, John Owen Scott, JeSuis’ Andrew Scott and Josiah Scott; 12 great- grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren.
She loved her church, her family and her many pets, which she cared for over the years.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, 2024, at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with Bro. Tommy Echols officiating. Interment will follow in the Wilson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from noon until the time of services.
Pallbearers will be the grandchildren.
