Niken Withrow-Walker hit a 3-pointer with eight seconds to play Thursday night to lift Lebanon鈥檚 freshman boys to a 53-52 win over visiting Liberty Creek at Campbell Brandon Gym/Hester Gibbs Court.
Lebanon trailed by five with 2:30 left. The Blue Devils forced turnovers and enticed Liberty Creek to take, and miss, shots. Jace Atwood hit a 3-pointer and Maddox Warrick a tying layup. After Withrow-Walker鈥檚 3, the Wolfpack missed a shot at the buzzer as Lebanon hung on.
鈥淚t was a great win for us and we were finally able to win a close game,鈥 Lebanon coach Paul Tribble said after the Blue Devils improved to 5-7.
Liberty Creek jumped to a 10-2 lead before the Blue Devils drew into a 14-14 tie at the first-quarter break. The Wolfpack went back up 31-27 at halftime and 46-40 going into the fourth.
Withrow-Walker hit two triples and led Lebanon with 16 points while Warrick finished with 15. Atwood threw in three treys for his nine while Titus O鈥橬eil scored seven and Markhail Anglin six in the second quarter.
Lebanon will host Green Hill at 6 p.m. Thursday.
