Cumberland sophomore Emaleigh Tarpley earned Mid-South Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors, announced Monday by conference officials.
Tarpley helped lead the Phoenix to two wins including a double-overtime victory over Tennessee Southern and a home decision over Life to run the Phoenix鈥檚 win streak to five. Sheposted double-doubles in both outings to now run her double-double streak to four consecutive games and six on the season.
Tarpley averaged 17 points per game with 15 rebounds. She led the team in points and rebounds against the Firehawks posting 18 points and a career-high 20 rebounds with one steal and a block. She added in 16 points against Life and 10 boards with three steals.
This season, Tarpley is averaging 11.3 points per game and 9.9 rebounds per game. She leads the Mid-South Conference in rebounds with 129.
The honor is Tarpley鈥檚 first Mid-South Conference Player of the Week honor of the season and of her career. She is the first Cumberland Women鈥檚 Basketball player to earn Defensive Player of the Week honors.
