Three people were arrested for felony theft after being discovered with allegedly stolen sporting goods by Mt. Juliet Police.
On Sunday, an MJPD officer observed what the department called suspicious behavior from the three individuals at Academy Sports + Outdoors.
A traffic stop was initiated after a turn signal violation, where officers discovered baseball bats and pickleball rackets that had reportedly been stolen from Dick鈥檚 Sporting Goods.
The merchandise is valued at nearly $7,000, qualifying the theft as a Class D felony.
Police said the suspicious behavior involved the suspects potentially scouting out Academy as their next target.
The suspects, a 24-year-old man, 42-year-old man, and 43-year-old woman from Chicago, were arrested and booked into the Wilson County Jail. The stolen merchandise was returned to Dick鈥檚.
