Mona was a local beautician for many years, later retiring from K-Mart. She was very active for many years in coaching softball and managing the Lebanon Girls Softball Association. She also was a longtime volunteer at the Wilson County Fair.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Smith 鈥淪mitty鈥� Murphy; two sons, Winn Murphy and Brandon Murphy; stepfather, Jasper Winford Garton; and sisters, Patricia Clemmons and Bonnie Wells.

She is survived by her three grandchildren children, Tamryn Lee Murphy, Weston Smith Murphy and Zane Thomas Murphy; nieces, Brandy Tomlinson and Melissa Clemmons; nephews, Brian, Jeff, Cory and Brad Clemmons, Shane and Timmy Wells; stepchildren, Drenda Sorrells and John (Nicole) Murphy; step-grandchildren, J. R., Molly and Victoria Murphy, and Chloe Sorrells.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, 2025, at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Delashmit officiating. Interment will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from Wednesday, Jan. 15 from 4-7 p.m. and again Thursday after 11 a.m.
