Born Nov. 13, 1947, in Wilson County, Tennessee, she is the daughter of the late Johnny Thomas Johnson and Ruth Marie Glen Garton.

Mrs. Mona Johnson Murphy, 77, of Lebanon, Tennessee, passed away Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025.
Born Nov. 13, 1947, in Wilson County, Tennessee, she is the daughter of the late Johnny Thomas Johnson and Ruth Marie Glen Garton.
Mona was a local beautician for many years, later retiring from K-Mart. She was very active for many years in coaching softball and managing the Lebanon Girls Softball Association. She also was a longtime volunteer at the Wilson County Fair.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Smith 鈥淪mitty鈥 Murphy; two sons, Winn Murphy and Brandon Murphy; stepfather, Jasper Winford Garton; and sisters, Patricia Clemmons and Bonnie Wells.
She is survived by her three grandchildren children, Tamryn Lee Murphy, Weston Smith Murphy and Zane Thomas Murphy; nieces, Brandy Tomlinson and Melissa Clemmons; nephews, Brian, Jeff, Cory and Brad Clemmons, Shane and Timmy Wells; stepchildren, Drenda Sorrells and John (Nicole) Murphy; step-grandchildren, J. R., Molly and Victoria Murphy, and Chloe Sorrells.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, 2025, at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Delashmit officiating. Interment will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from Wednesday, Jan. 15 from 4-7 p.m. and again Thursday after 11 a.m.
