When it comes to the paranormal, most people seem to have mixed emotions about what they believe. But for some, it鈥檚 a way of life. Billy Lewis (Scare Network TV), Jimmy Ricker (Outlaw Paranormal), and award-winning musician Kevin Palmer teamed up recently to investigate at The Thomas House Hotel in Red Boiling Springs.
鈥淚鈥檝e been doing this for about 22 years,鈥 said 48-year-old Ricker.
鈥淎ctually, it was going to church that started me in the paranormal field. I would see people speaking in tongues, and people having spirits cast out of them. That鈥檚 what got me interested in the paranormal. We would sometimes go into people鈥檚 homes and help them get rid of evil spirits. The worst case I remember being involved with was a little 4-year-old girl. Her grandma had brought her handcuffed to a wheelchair because she was full of evil. Her head was going crazy, she was visually possessed by something. We ended up casting the demon out of her.鈥
But Ricker says he wasn鈥檛 always outgoing.
鈥淏ack when I was younger, I never spoke to people and kind of just stayed to myself,鈥 said Ricker.
鈥淧eople would often take me for being a snob, but I wasn鈥檛 at all. I just hated the way I sounded when I talked. I was called to preach, and I thought there was no way I could do that, and now I鈥檓 investigating paranormal activity all over the country. I was upstairs in room 35 (The Thomas House) and Billy (Lewis) texted me and asked if I鈥檇 like to be part of an investigation with him. At first, I said no, I wasn鈥檛 used to being behind the camera. The next day he called me, and we talked for a while. I told him I鈥檇 do it if he would let me bring somebody. He agreed, so I asked my best friend Kevin (Palmer) to come out and he agreed. Kevin has always included me in his projects when possible, and I wasn鈥檛 going to forget that. So, that鈥檚 how I ended up signing up with Scare Network TV and the show is going to keep my original name of Outlaw Paranormal. I鈥檓 excited to see where it goes, Billy is a good guy, and we work well with each other.鈥
Billy Lewis, 47, began his career in a much different place than he is now.
鈥淚 initially went to school for Communication and Broadcast Journalism,鈥 said Lewis. 鈥淚 wasn鈥檛 really learning the real essence of the business, but I did get my college degree. I went into TV news from there. I did that from 2001 to 2006. I learned how to everything I do working in TV. In 2008, I created my own production company, and we produced corporate videos, TV commercials and music videos. I enjoyed it very much, and we still do those things as well.鈥
Lewis explains how he got into the paranormal.
鈥淚 was watching a show on the History channel called 鈥楾he Unexplained,鈥 and it profiled this house in Indiana called Willows Weep,鈥 said Lewis. 鈥淭hat show called it the most evil house in 性视界APP. I ended up contacting the owner who happens to be a very well-known paranormal investigator. I ended up going to Indiana to research it and write a horror film about it. Lewis has written and directed two horror films to date (The Jailhouse, and the Terrible Twos). So, I went there and interviewed him and put together several clips from that Willows Weep based on stories and research I did. I put them on YouTube and those videos were getting a lot of attention so that inspired me to create my own platform.鈥
Recently, Lewis took his love for the paranormal to the next level.
鈥淔our years ago, I decided that I wanted to start my own network,鈥 said Lewis. 鈥淚 always enjoyed watching the Ghost Hunter type shows and loved the title Chiller Network. I just thought that sounded cool. So, when I was ready to launch my own network, it had to have a cool name. That鈥檚 where Scare Network TV originated. I think it鈥檚 to the point, and very edgy at the same time. I鈥檝e been producing paranormal documentaries, true crime, and series,鈥 said Lewis. 鈥淚t鈥檚 been very well received. I鈥檓 doing everything I can to build up this platform and make it entertaining for people who take the time to watch and graciously subscribe for only $4.99 a month. I鈥檓 super blessed to be at this point with it all.鈥
Lewis explains what led him to partnering with Ricker and Outlaw Paranormal.
鈥淪o, I did a project a year ago in Bristol, Tennessee at a place called the URA Shrine,鈥 said Lewis. 鈥淚t鈥檚 this unique kind of house, and the owner allows all kinds of different religious people, paranormal investigators, and others to come into the place and perform rituals or investigations. One of the guys that I was working with had someone tell him about this place and we ended up locking it down for three days. While we were there, Jimmy鈥檚 name came up as someone that had been to the URA Shrine many times before and we asked him to come up and he gave us a great interview and shared some of his evidence gathered there over the years. So that鈥檚 where we first met, on that project.鈥
Lewis says that he and Ricker kept in touch since that time at the URA Shrine.
鈥淛immy鈥檚 always mentioned the Thomas House and so we worked it out to come and work together fully on a project,鈥 said Lewis. 鈥淗e鈥檚 been very gracious, and we are glad to have Outlaw Paranormal on Scare Network TV. He has been very willing and helpful on other projects.鈥
Scare Network TV is available on streaming apps including Roku and Amazon Prime.
