Macon County’s girls went 2-1 last week with a 48-46 win at Westmoreland on Dec. 10 and a 49-44 victory at Community last Friday, followed by a 57-40 home loss to Livingston Academy last Saturday.
The Lady Tigers and Westmoreland exchanged long runs. Macon had a 14-0 spurt in the first half before withstanding the Lady Eagles’ 11-1 spurt in the second.
Allie Kate Austin hit two 3-pointers in leading the Lady Tigers with 13 points. Katie Jo Shockley notched nine points, Payton Crump eight points and five assists, Natalie Green six points and seven rebounds, Chloe Solomon five points, Kaylee Slayton four and Ariana Jones three.
At Unionville, Macon County led by 20 points before holding off Community. The Lady Tigers used an 11-0 run wiped out a 1-0 Lady Vikings edge. The home team used a 13-2 run to close a 37-17 deficit. The visitors were up 26-15 at halftime.
Solomon tossed in 10 points, including a pair of 3s, for Macon County. Crump and Shockley each scored nine points while Green added eight points and 11 rebounds. Austin and Slayton each finished with five points and Jones three.
Austin led the Lady Tigers with 16 points, knocking down 9 of 13 free throws, against Livingston. Crump added 11 points while Shockley scored five. Green finished with five rebounds as she and Solomon each threw in three points and Jones two.
