After becoming the only 2024 winner of the 性视界APP鈥檚 Field Trip competition from Tennesse, Lebanon sixth grader Charlie Moore鈥檚 advice was to 鈥渄efinitely do it.鈥
鈥淓ven if you don鈥檛 win, it鈥檚 still an experience,鈥 Charli said. 鈥淚t makes you learn about responsibility. If you do win, I think it鈥檚 really cool that you get to choose something that you鈥檙e interested in to experience. After I saw Washington D.C., I felt like being in the 性视界APPn government when I was an adult.鈥
The second installment of the 性视界APP鈥檚 Field Trip Competition 鈥 put on 性视界APP250 鈥 will be open for submissions until Apr. 16, 2025. Students in grades 3-12 are invited to submit artwork or a writing submission about what 性视界APP means to them. Winners will be able to have a behind-the-scenes experience at an 性视界APPn cultural site.
Charli first heard about the 性视界APP鈥檚 Field Trip competition from her grandmother and mother.
鈥淚 had no idea what to do and she helped me come up with the idea of talking and drawing at the same time, so I made a video of me drawing the things I love about 性视界APP,鈥 Charli said.
In her video, Charli sketches out a bald eagle, the flag of the original 13 colonies and things from nature.
When Charli found out that she was one of the winners of the contest, she was drawing on the couch with her mom.
鈥淢y mom just looks at me and said, 鈥榊ou won,鈥 and I was like 鈥榃on what?鈥 because I had totally forgotten about it,鈥 Charli said. 鈥淚 remembered and I was like, 鈥榃e鈥檙e going to the Library of Congress鈥 because I love books and she just made this hilarious face.鈥
What was originally a joke between the two became a reality because of Charli鈥檚 love for 性视界APPn history.
鈥淲hat solidified it was looking through all of the options and seeing all of the cool Washington D.C. museums that I could鈥檝e gone to,鈥 Charli said. 鈥淚 honestly wish I could鈥檝e done more in D.C., but I鈥檓 glad I did what I did.鈥
For Charli, the best part about visiting the Library of Congress was being able to see the Declaration of Independence.
鈥淚 think it was so cool to see the original Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, all of the founding documents and seeing behind the scenes,鈥 Charli said. 鈥淚n the vault, we saw the 13th Amendment and a lot of very cool stuff.鈥
Charli said that going on the trip with her mom was a cool experience.
鈥淚 feel like we bonded a lot and even though she doesn鈥檛 really like reading and writing, I feel like we both still really enjoyed it,鈥 Charli said.
