Samuel 鈥淛.R.鈥 Earnest Fortenberry Jr., 90, of Lebanon, Tennessee, went to Heaven Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2024.
He lived a long and happy life and brought joy to everyone he met.
Family members who preceded him to Heaven are his wife, Debra Fortenberry; son, Samuel Earnest Fortenberry III; mother, Lilly Mae Fortenberry; dad, Samuel Earnest Fortenberry; and sister, Verna Mae Horne.
He is survived by his children, Regina Logsdon, Pam Smithson and Teresa Plenge; and nephews, Steve Horne and Terry Horne.
J.R. was the founder of Fortenberry Construction Company which was known best for the construction of Raceway fuel stations throughout the United States.
We鈥檇 like to thank those special 鈥渁ngels of mercy鈥 that provided daily care for several years, the staff of Hearthside Senior Living and Gentiva Hospice Care.
Celebration of life services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2024, at Hearthside Senior Living. Rev. Paul Leftrick will be officiating.
