Mrs. Anne Sparks, 90, a 30 year resident of Hartsville, Tennessee, and formerly of Pleasant Valley, New York, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2024.
She is the daughter of the late Jacob and Gertrude Hoomans Suierveld, born April 24, 1934, in Mt. Kisco, New York.
As a teenager, she and her family relocated to Aldenville, Pennsylvania, where she met the love of her life, James M. 鈥淛im鈥 Sparks. They married October 23, 1954 and made Pleasant Valley their home in 1958. They shared over 60 years of love, devotion and companionship before Jim鈥檚 death in 2012.
While raising their children, Anne also worked for several years as an expert medical transcriptionist supporting many local physicians. Not only a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Anne was an expert quilter and seamstress. What a treat it was to be gifted one of her beautiful quilts!
In addition to her parents and husband, Anne was preceded in death by her brothers, John and Jan 鈥淛ake鈥 Suierveld.
Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Linda (Jim) Phillips, of Crossville, Tennessee, Susan (Wayne) DeFonzo, of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, Joan Sparks (also her devoted caregiver for several years), of Hartsville, Tennessee, and Jim (Nancy) Sparks of Lebanon, Tennessee. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Dana Phillips, of Knoxville, and Matthew, Michael and Daniel Sparks, all of Tennessee.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, Dec. 21, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. in the Dixon Springs Cemetery with Bro. Dickie Johnson officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of services at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home.
